The focus of treatment is on disrupting unhealthy inherited family
patterns and helping clients design a new future.
It is customary
for us to begin treatment by providing clients with a full assessment at
the beginning of treatment. This generally takes two sessions and includes
collecting a family genogram (family tree), conducting a brief mental
status exam, asking questions about what you hope to gain by treatment,
and gathering relevant information about family, social, medical, legal,
and substance abuse issues. The therapist will take written notes during
these sessions, as well as enter data on the computer. The therapist will
refer to these notes, as well as your genogram, during the course of
treatment. Once the assessment is complete, the therapist and client(s)
work together to establish a specific treatment plan ( usually by the end
of the second session or the beginning of the third session) with clearly
defined goals and objectives to be accomplished within an agreed upon time
frame. If you have any questions or concerns about the assessment process,
please let us know, as we are committed to serving you in best possible
way.
Confidentiality is always preserved within the Center. We
work closely with other people in the community who are already involved
with our clients in significant ways, such as ministers, lawyers, doctors,
and school counselors, and often include them as an adjunct to our team.
However, no documents or verbal information about your case will be
released, unless it is allowable by law or written consent is given.
